Water and Nutrient Reservoir

The kelp in ShoreGrow Fertiliser, hydrated with fresh water, swells up to sixteen times its original size and acts as a nutrient and water reservoir, thus reducing the amount of water required and retaining up to 80% of soil nutrients. Over time the ShoreGrow range breaks down naturally into its biological constituents that acts as "food" for plant growth. ShoreGrow also contains a natural chelating agent, mannitol, which ensures that nutrients are made available to plants in a form they can utilise.

Reduces soil compaction and increases soil aeration.

By adding natural biological matter that has the ability to swell and shrink with soil moisture content, ShoreGrow decreases soil compaction by up to five times. This ensures that plant roots can easily penetrate the soil to greater depths. As a result of the decreased compaction and increased aggregate stability of the soil, aeration is increased and water penetrates more deeply.

Increases soil stability and prevents rainwater "runoff"

The water retaining capacity of ShoreGrow is mainly due to the presence of alginic acid - ( A gel that takes up water ) which increases the soils aggregate stability. This is the ability of the soil particles to "gum" together. The alginic content of the kelp in ShoreGrow (up to 45%) will help prevent "runoff" of rainfall.

Reduces Soil Salinity

ShoreGrow decreases soil salinity as more water in the soil means that the soil salts are diluted and therefore less harmful to plant roots.

Reduces susceptibility to fungal and bacterial attack.

Plants grown with the addition of ShoreGrow are generally very healthy with well developed root and shoot systems. In this "happy" state they are less susceptible to pathogen attack.

Improves seed germination, plant establishment and growth.

ShoreGrow increases seed germination, reduces germination time and increases seedling establishment. ShoreGrow increases plant size, leaf appearance, flowering intensity, and lifespan.

Kelp is a highly effective brix builder. High brix plants have a greater sugar content, which translates to a lower freezing point and greater resistance to insect damage.

Increased Root Growth

ShoreGrow contains auxins and cytokinins which stimulae the plant by disturbing its own hormone balance. The auxins permeate to the roots and stimulate cell division and root growth, as well as causing the plant to product the cytokins necessary to produce top growth.
